Sun Stand Still: Daily Bible Nugget
Sun stand still pdf book: What Happens When You Dare to Ask God for the Impossible. This is a powerful, action provoking and audacious faith book by Steven Furtick.
In Steven Furtick’s book, Sun stand still, we see a vital reminder of how great our lives can be when we efficiently tap into the divine power of God. If God did it for Joshua in the bible, He can do it for us too. He is the same God we serve today and nothing has changed about Him.
In todays daily bible nugget, we can learn that when we pray just as Joshua prayed, miracles will happen. All we need to do is have the same faith as Joshua did. God is the same yesterday, today and forever and He is still doing miracle, for there is nothing impossible for God to do.
Sun Stand Still Summary(Source: aaronarmstrong)
Sun Stand Still is a call to what Furtick calls “audacious faith”—to live and pray like the God we worship and serve is actually capable of the impossible (because He is).
Furtick takes his inspiration from Joshua 10:1-15; there Joshua commands the sun to stand still so the Israelites can finish off their enemies, and God causes the sun to stand still. He wants readers to have God-sized visions; plans and prayers that are absolutely terrifyingly impossible to accomplish if God is not at work in them and through them.

Sun Stand Still Reviews
3.0 out of 5 stars Some great points and perspectives, but rambles on at times and is probably longer than it needed to be
Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2017
“Sun Stand Still” is Steven Furtick’s call to Christians to unlock their potential by believing that God is ready, willing, and able to do the unimaginable in their lives. He bases his assertions on personal experiences, experiences in the lives of his church members, and on biblical examples such as Joshua (the basis for the title to the book). This is the first book that I’ve read by Furtick, but I am very familiar with him. I listen to the Elevation Church podcast regularly and I thoroughly enjoy Steven’s heart and passion as a speaker. He’s absolutely one of the most gifted presenters that I’ve ever heard. He’s also involved in their worship ministry and has written or co-written several of the more popular worship songs that have come out of the Elevation worship group.
Furtick’s book opens strong. The begining of the book is filled with highlighter-worthy quotes that will leave you pondering them long after you’ve moved on to the next chapter. There is no shortage of bulletin board one liners here. Two of my favorite ones were:
“….if you ever encounter a theology that doesn’t directly connect the greatness of God with your potential to do great things on his behalf, it’s not biblical theology. File it under Heresy.”
“if the size of your vision for your life isn’t intimidating to you, there’s a good chance it’s insulting to God.”
These are powerful and profound statements and Furtick excels at this, not just in this book but also while he’s preaching. It’s one of the things that make him so exciting and engaging to listen to. My issue with the book is that it seems to me that Furtick had a really great idea and point, but didn’t really have enough material to fill an entire book. This would have made a great Sunday morning sermon (and probably did). It would have made a great little set of worksheets for a small group bible study (and probably did). But I can’t help but feel like it falls short as a book. There is too much unnecessary “filler” material and repeating of points to get the book long enough to call it a book. Where in the beginning I was soaking up every line and enjoying the encouragement and fresh perspective, through the middle I found myself reading just to finish the book.
Another area that I think Furtick excels at in his speaking but might have fallen a little short in this book is in his way of using his language choices to relate to people. The book opens with Furtick talking about how amazed he is that Elevation church held a worship service in the same arena where he had seen the band U2 play a couple of years before. Later on he makes some cultural references to things (such as Nintendo’s WII video game system). Even in the write up blurb for the book on the Amazon home page, two statements he makes about the book are: “This book is not a Snuggie”. “The words on these pages will not go down like Ambien”. And while all of those references make perfect sense to me and anyone else reading the book today, I just wonder if it will affect the potential longevity of the book as far as potential future readers are concerned. I recently read a book by the late D.L Moody. The book was written before 1900, and yet it was as fresh and powerful for me as it was for people the day it was published. I just have to wonder if Furtick’s choice of examples, phrases, and word choices will hinder future generations from being able to connect with it.
I think some of the book is excellent. I think more of the book is pretty good. But unfortunately I think a lot of the book is just ok and kinda rambles on. I still love listening to Furtick and I would read him again, and while I think there were some excellent points made in the book, I think overall this one is just OK. I give it three out of five.

Once I opened this book, I could not put it down. I am not a religious fanatic by any means but this book gave me a fresh perspective about what it means to have true faith. Pastor Furtick is someone that has so much passion for what he does, you can’t help but be influenced. I watch his weekly sermons on the Elevation Church website in addition to reading the book. This book is especially helpful if you are experiencing a challenging time in your life. The 12 audacious steps are a structured reminder of the meaning of our lives. I know that this will be a book that I read over and over when I need some inspiration and a connection with God.

Pastor Steven Furtick is by far one of my favourite preachers, and I was excited to read his book. Pastor Steven was right; this book is not for those who want to be coddled. He provides faith boosters anchored in the Biblical idea of audacious faith. To help us not sit on these faith boosters, he provides practical steps along the way to activate this audacious faith. This book is perfect for you if you are tired of living a normal/subpar faith life. Pastor Steven challenges you to rise up, believe for the best in your life and finally, see that belief turned into action. He recaps how to start transferring your audacious faith into deed. This book WILL stir you up. It has changed my life, and made me start working on some dreams. It earns my highest recommendation!

Having the honor and privilege of having Pastor Furtick as a guest speaker at our church (Newspring Church, Anderson, SC), I was extremely excited to hear about this book. W O W!!! I am not a big reader other than my Bible, this is one of the best books I have ever read. Moving, challenging and very inspiring. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK. NOT ONLY READ IT BUT APPLY IT. USE IT. And to God be the glory……..
5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t Be Afraid to Ask God for the Impossible
Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2010
He’s with me all the time and knows my every thought. When we pray fervently for our children to heal, for protection in a scary situation, or to keep our jobs and the roof over our heads … those are awesome, dedicated prayers, and he hears every one. But those prayers don’t compare to a Sun Stand Still prayer from the soul of your being to a God who can give the impossible and immeasurably more than we could ever hope for or dream of.
Read Sun Stand Still. You’ll be moved by Furtick’s passion to introduce you to audacious faith, and humored by some of his personal stories (like the Ramen Noodle Revival!). Your faith will be renewed and grown after having the blinders removed to see what God STILL DOES for those daring enough to believe that he can and willing enough to ask him to show off.
That’s what my God does – he shows up and he shows off!
5.0 out of 5 stars This Will Increase Your FaithReviewed in the United Kingdom on March 18, 2014
I was captivated by the title of this powerful book not knowing what to expect. It turned out to be a dynamite. ‘Sun Stand Still’ is a must read for every Christian who wants to do the impossible. Written in simple and excellent English, this book is also full of humour. I could relate to the writer. Without Faith it is impossible to please God! This book will fire up your faith in the God of impossibilities. God of Joshua still makes the Sun Stand Still for any believer that dares to ask. Thanks Pastor Steven Furtick for allowing yourself to be used by the Holy Spirit to write this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars A book that allows you to be specific with your calling and to make steps towards itReviewed in the United Kingdom on September 17, 2016
This book has allowed me to be specific with what I feel God wants me to do. The book is very balanced with scripture and real life examples which helps the reader relate. It allows you to test your calling according to scripture. It doesn’t let the “ordinary” believer off the hook and expects everyone to see God’s work within them and through them.
